When we released THE PULSE, it was built around a simple idea: help composers move faster from instinct to structure, without getting lost in technical complexity.
When we built THE PULSE, we knew the engine could do more than the original set of presets showed; we also knew that we wanted to keep adding value for those who invest in THE PULSE. That’s the thinking behind the expansion pack range, and it’s why we’re now adding two more.
The Engine Was Designed To Grow
THE PULSE uses the same ensemble engine as THE SCORE, but adapted for modern, electronic, pulse-driven music, giving producers and composers another powerful palette for their productions. The launch presets gave a good starting point, but they didn’t show everything the engine can do.
Expansion packs help fill that gap. Instead of making a new instrument for every creative concept, we add new material to the engine people already have, reducing learning and inertia when wanting to get an idea down. MOTION TEXTURES and DARK MACHINA were the first examples of this approach.
In The Beginning…
Our first packs, MOTION TEXTURES and DARK MACHINA, were always meant to be different and show how diverse THE PULSE can be. MOTION TEXTURES is about restraint, with subtle intensity, purposeful drones, and movement that stays in the background. DARK MACHINA is the opposite, focusing on pressure with mechanical grooves, tight rhythms, and growing tension. One is for quiet scenes, the other for scenes that need to feel intense.
This difference is more important than how many presets there are. We learned that expansions work best when each one solves a unique creative need, not just by adding more of the same. Our approach has always been quality over quantity.

Synth Wave And Epic Atmospheres: Expanding The Power
The first two packs were divided by intensity: restraint versus pressure. SYNTH WAVE and EPIC ATMOSPHERES are different; they focus on genre style versus the size of the atmosphere.
SYNTH WAVE offers 20 presets inspired by the familiar sounds from years of film, TV, and electronic music: pulsing basses, arpeggios, energetic leads, and nostalgic chords. Another set in the pack explores darker, more atmospheric sounds for retro-futuristic scores instead of pure nostalgia. The goal wasn’t to copy the 1980s, but to create a retro feel that fits well in today’s mixes, blending warm analogue imperfections with modern movement and cinematic depth.
EPIC ATMOSPHERES takes a completely different approach. It includes twenty sessions with warm analogue synths, deep drones, big reverbs, and changing harmonic textures, designed for composers working on dystopian or science fiction projects. Each session evolves under a single sustained chord, with texture, modulation, harmony, and space all shifting over time. We drew inspiration from Vangelis’ original Blade Runner and the work of Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch on Blade Runner 2049.
Between the two, THE PULSE now covers ground and becomes more powerful.
